In a world of normal kitties, there exists a place nestled far in the distance that is home to the most unique of kitty friends. Upon venturing into the city, it becomes clear nothing is quite what it seems here. What looks to be a pile of colossal-sized stacked cans of cat food is actually the city’s 5-level department store. The upside-down cardboard box is a private telephone booth, the huge sculptural fish and mice filed orderly along the streets are houses, and the burger lying on the floor is just a squeaky toy. Welcome to Kittygurumi™ City!
Meet one group of best friends in Kittygurumi City who are always up for a good time, and fun get togethers.
Personality: Sassy, a bit of a diva, yet still good-natured and friendly
Likes: Friendly conversation and brushing her fur to be tangle-free and shiny.
Dislikes: Being called “Gina”
Regina is a sophisticated Persian Kittygurumi™. Regina is usually occupied with grooming her silky-smooth fur that she brushes at least a hundred times a day. Maintaining long fur and keeping it tangle-free and shiny is hard work!
When Regina isn’t taking care of her own fur, Regina runs a tiny salon in the middle of the city where she grooms the other Kittygurumi. Her aspiration is to one day become a famous hairdresser – or rather – ‘furdresser’.
Personality: Strong-willed and generous
Likes: Food, talking about food, watching cooking channels on television
Dislikes: Eating the same foods again and again
To Florence, food is everything – her life revolves around food. She’s tried all the food offerings of Kittygurumi™ City and has moved onto her next goal of tasting every flavor combination that she can think of. Florence has long been bored of basic flavors like chicken or tuna, she only gets hyped up when she spots an extra-unique flavor that she can’t resist. Because of this vast amount of experience, Florence considers herself a ‘cat food connoisseur’, and everyone in town agrees she’s earned that title.
Breed: “Alley Cat”
Personality: Kind, compassionate and reliable
Likes: Meeting new cats and volunteering as one of the official Kittygurumi City welcome crew
Dislikes: Those who are inconsiderate and ungrateful
At first glance, Mildred might seem intimidating or even a bit scary. With the scar across her cheek and the tear on her ear, along with the scowl on her face, Mildred’s appearance definitely looks rough. Nonetheless, once you become more acquainted with Mildred, you’ll realize that she is undeniably a kind and compassionate Kittygurumi™; she can always be relied on, and she always sticks up for her friends in their times of need.
You see, Mildred’s outer impression looks menacing because in her past she had to adapt to living in soggy boxes in city alleyways and foraging for fish from trashbins from a young age. Mildred only knew this way of living so her outlook on life was cynical – until one day she decided to leave the big, tough city and discovered the land of Kittygurumi™.
Personality: Adventurous, optimistic, and full of energy
Likes: Sports, any activity with an adrenaline rush, but happily spends time with friends for mundane activities
Dislikes: Staying still for too long
Sadie is a source of endless upbeat energy, generally causing her to be well-loved within the community of Kittygurumi™ City, for those who can keep up with her energy level, that is. The various kitties who prefer to take it easy normally try to avoid making eye contact with Sadie, or else they risk getting swept up in whatever activity Sadie’s hyperactive imagination has conjured up.
Sadie never fails to look on the positive side of things and she would rather remind herself, and others, of the benefits in every situation than dwell on the negatives of the past. This also means that Sadie doesn’t take anything for granted either, especially her friends
Personality: Cheerful and spontaneous
Likes: Playing harmless pranks, making her friends laugh, and finding new hobbies
Dislikes: Needlessly fancy or elegant etiquette
If there was just one word that could be used to describe Bessie, it would be “prankster”. Bessie loves to tell jokes and tease her friends, but most of all she loves playing harmless pranks on them. Naturally, some of the Kittygurumi™ don’t necessarily appreciate it when Bessie spooks them by shouting BOO! when they turn a corner, but Bessie would argue that they just don’t want to admit how much they actually enjoy her pranks.
She learns the best pranks by watching videos and she tries to replicate them. Unfortunately, this means a lot of her friends become her ‘test subjects’, willing or not.
Breed: Scottish Fold
Personality: Eccentric and quirky
Likes: Crafty projects, painting, photography and drinking soda and coffee
Dislikes: Complicated mathematical equations and plain carbonated water
Doris tends to see the world a bit differently than the other Kittygurumi™; through Doris’ eyes, the world is vibrant and bright. She sees endless possibilities to let creativity shine everywhere she goes, but sometime her imagination runs a little wild and gets the better of her. Her number one hobby is staying in her room to paint, draw, and fill in coloring books. She also likes learning from crafting project tutorials.
When she’s not making art (which is rarely ever), she’ll take photographs of her friends and nature. One of Doris’ goals is to bird-watch, but it seems like she can’t be bothered to sit still and wait for the birds to appear.
Personality: Elegant and mature, “the mom friend”
Likes: Sewing kigurumi costumes, knitting, crocheting, stargazing and ballroom dancing
Dislikes: When other Kittygurumi don’t take their muddy shoes off indoors
Gladys loves to nurture others and make sure all her friends are comfortable, safe, healthy, and happy. She is what many would call the resident “mom friend” of Kittygurumi™ City. If any of the Kittygrumi’s are ever in need of some care or good cheering, you can bet that Gladys will be over with hand-made pot pie, chicken noodle soup, and a fluffy blanket.
Some Kittygurumi’s have even been guilty of pretending to be sick just so that they can get some Gladys attention, but she doesn’t mind. The appreciation and gratitude she receives from her friends is of utmost importance to Gladys.
Breed: Black Cat
Personality: Laid-back and prefers to go with the flow
Likes: Catching up on the latest TY series and movies, reading fantasy and sci-fi novels.
Dislikes: Parties that are too loud, thunderstorms
Everyone in the city knows Gertrude, but not necessarily by name or through introductions, but because Gertrude can always be spotted hanging out somewhere in the city with a pile of books! She’s always on the move and you never know where you’ll spot Gertrude next. Whether she’s reading on top of a tree branch, lying down in a hammock next to the lake, or even while she’s pushing a grocery cart down the aisle with one paw while holding a book in the other.
Gertrude loves all genres, but her favorites are fantasy and classic Kittygurumi™ series’ like “Hairy Pawter” and “The Chronicles of Catnip”.
